RECIPE - Traditional & Black Bean Hummus

Traditional Hummus


  • 2 tbsp Tahini
  • ½ lemon squeezed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 can chickpeas (Garbanzo beans)
  • ¼ cup pine nuts
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • Salt / Pepper to taste

Black Bean Hummus


  • 2 tbsp Tahini
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 lime squeezed
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 small jalapeno pepper
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • Dash crushed red pepper
  • Salt / Pepper to taste


Blend all ingredients in a food processer.  Add any garnish you want – smoked paprika, roasted red peppers, sundried tomatoes, olives, extra pine nuts, have fun with flavor and savor!

TIP: If you want the mixture to be thicker, use less water. If you like it a bit smoother, add more water. Only add in a little at a time as a little goes a long way!
